Solid Gold FX adds a wah-like filter to its 76 Fuzz with the 76 Plus

Solid Gold FX has released the 76 Plus, an expanded version of the 76 Octave Fuzz pedal that adds a fully-featured filter side to the pedal, independently foot-switchable to the fuzz.

The pedal retains the octave-up “snarl” of the original box, that according to Solid Gold FX “takes inspiration from the lauded Univox Super Fuzz, Shin-Ei Companion and Ibanez Standard Fuzz”. The 76’s volume, fuzz and texture knobs are still present, the last of which sweeps the midrange around for different voicings. The other volume knob controls the filter side of the pedal, with the speed knob governing the rate of its sweep. The speed knob becomes disconnected if you plug in an external expression pedal, allowing the 76 Plus to function essentially like a wah.

The four toggle switches in the centre of the unit, Color, Clip, Mode and Shape, unlock even more sounds from the pedal. The Color switch will engage a treble roll-off, while the Clip switch selects between the original pedal’s vintage fuzz sound, or two tamer options.

The Mode switch and the Shape switch govern the waveform configuration of the filter’s sweep, with Shape choosing different waveforms and Mode choosing one of three variations on that waveform.
